Addicted to Your Afternoon Candy Bar?
Hello gorgeous soul!! Do you find yourself NEEDING sugar in the afternoon? 😬🍩You’re not alone!!
According to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of health, our greatest time of anxiety is between 2pm-6pm.
This stress can lead us to crave sweets, as a temporary relief from all the intensity! 🍫
While sugar does distract our body in the short term, it’s actually the last thing our body needs during a stressful time!
This is because stress produces the hormone cortisol, which causes our body to spike our blood sugar levels.
Eating sugar on top of this can launch us into overdrive!! 😬
A much more effective way to relieve afternoon stress is by soothing self care activities!
Here are a few to start trying this week! 🤗🥳
1. A cup of relaxing tea with ingredients like lavender, chamomile, or mint 🫖💜
2. Take a break to do some breathwork or guided meditation, ommmm! 😍
3. Move your body! Try walking around the block, or doing some stretches, yoga or dancing in your office! 🤗
4. Connect to nature! 🌵 Hug a tree, touch the leaves of a plant 🪴 or if your office is 100% beige and blah, visualize yourself in a place in nature you love 🌳💕
5. Journal what’s on your heart and release whatever is stressing you out! ❤️
And one last thing love, to avoid the need for quick fuel in the afternoon, make sure you’re having a hearty, nourishing meal between 10am-2pm!!
10am-2pm is when our digestive fire is the strongest, and you’ll be able to digest your food most easily! 🔥
