Goddess Spring Detox Smoothie
It’s Springtime! The wildflowers are blooming, the days are longer and sunnier, and we’re beginning to feel more and more energetic and inspired!
If you’re shaking your head right now and saying, “Wait a second, that’s SO not me! I’m feeling sooooo sluggish and exhausted. I can barely get out of bed in the morning.”
I feel you goddess. And if you’re feeling this way, might I suggest to you a Spring detox to help rid yourself of any winter stagnation and spring into the summer?!
One great way to cleanse the body of the toxins we often accumulate in the winter is through vegetable juices and smoothies. Many folks love to do 3-7 day juice cleanses where they drink only juices and smoothies during that time.
But pure juice cleanses just make me hangry because your girl needs solid food at least twice a day! Instead, I like to cleanse throughout the Spring by enjoying a glass of warm lemon water when I wake up, followed by a Goddess Spring Detox juice like the recipe that follows.
I’ve included Spring delights in this recipe like dandelion greens and strawberries which are ripe and fabulous during this season. But feel free to substitute any other greens or fruits chilling in your fridge.
And if you don’t have coconut water? Don’t fret!! You can use 32 ounces of Spring water instead and add an extra tablespoon of maple syrup or an extra 3 drops of stevia.
You can also substitute the moringa for spirulina, wheatgrass, chlorella, or just add an extra couple of fresh green leaves!
Wishing you a fabulous Springtime of creativity, joy, and inspiration.
Goddess Spring Detox smoothie: 2 servings
Ingredients:
A small handful of dandelion green leaves
One small carrot chopped
One half of a large cucumber (or one whole small cucumber) peeled and chopped
One medium sized piece of ginger chopped (about ⅓ cup total)
Juice of half of one large lemon/ or one whole small lemon
2 large strawberries or 4 small ones
1 tbsp of moringa
16 oz (50cl) of coconut water
16 oz (50cl) of Spring water
3 tbsp of maple syrup or 10 drops of stevia
Instructions:
Before you step into the kitchen, take 3 deep breaths, giving gratitude to yourself for taking this time to invest in your health. You are fabulous!
Addl the ingredients to your blender and blend away!
Once it’s well blended, spoon off the foam if you prefer. I actually like the foam since it makes me feel like I’m drinking a fruity cappuccino.
Sit down in a comfortable place and observe the sacred oscar-the- grouch-like color of your smoothie. Take a deep breath, giving gratitude to your smoothie and all the farmers that grew the ingredient. Take another deep breath, giving more gratitude to yourself for investing in your self care. Savor your smoothie mindfully and say thank you again after the last sip!
